23 months old

Dear James,

I can't believe in one month you will be two years old! Your personality is really shining these days and we laugh at (with) you a lot! You are self-confident and strong willed but also the most sweet and loving little boy. You love to give us kisses which always have to be followed with a hug. You even give kisses to "Mytul" each night before you go to bed without any prompting from Mommy or Daddy. You also say "Love you Mommy! Love you Mytul!" when Daddy takes you into your room to read and go "night night". The biggest change in the last month is that you now sleep in a big boy bed! No more crib and it was the easiest transition. You love being able to climb into your own bed and you stay there until early morning when you like to climb in bed and snuggle with us.

You seem to be a favorite with all of the teachers at school and they say you are so easy going and play well with all of the kids in your class. Since Mommy is a teacher too this makes me smile. I want you to always have the kind heart you do now and to be nice to everyone!

So James Peyton, what are you up to at 23 months old?

You are 36 inches tall and weigh 30 pounds

You wear a size 5 diaper

You wear a size 2T shirt, shorts, and pants but we will be buying 3T shirts for summer!

You wear a size 7 1/2 shoe

You LOVE to read books and your favorites right now are Dr. Seuss' "Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can You?", Oh My Oh My Oh Dinosaurs, Elmo So Big!, Mater's Best Friend (Cars) You have started saying complete sentences and thoughts and your vocabulary continually amazes us! You are very polite and say "pease" and thank you. You also say yes sir and yes m'am which sounds like "yesam". The other day YOU sneezed and said "bless you" right after.

You continue to be a wonderful eater with pasta and fruit as your favorite foods. You also love yogurt. When you wake up in the morning you love to start your day with "orange juice" and it is the first thing you ask for when you wake up but it is mostly water with a splash of o.j.

You RUN everywhere and are very fast!

You and Daddy play basketball at night in our living room before bath time. The other day I picked you up from school and as we were riding home you started saying, "dribble, dribble shoot!", "dribble, dribble, shoot!"

You also LOVE tennis right now and like to go play on the tennis courts at the park, especially when Ellie comes to visit.

You LOVE your big sister. You like playing with Simon too but you talk about Ellie all the time after she is here. I took the sweetest picture of you two hugging good bye after Simon & Ellie spent a week with us for spring break. See below!

I am so proud to be your Mommy and I don't think I can ever put into words just how much I love you.

Love,
Mommy

2 months old

Dear Michael,
You are two months old and growing so fast! We went to the pediatrician today for your two month checkup. You were very brave and only cried for a few seconds after you got your 3 shots in your little thighs, well...maybe they aren't so little but they are too cute and I love to squeeze them! Below are two self-portraits I took since Daddy had a meeting and couldn't go today. He is usally very good about going to all pediatrician appts. but couldn't help missing today. He promises to be at all of the rest!

So Michael Scott, what are you up to at 2 months old?

You are 23 3/4 inches long (75th percentile)

You weigh 12 lbs 5 oz (70th percentile)

Your head circumference is 15 1/2 inches (30th percentile)

You wear a size 1 diaper

You wear size 0-3 month clothes

You have SO much hair and I don't think it is going to fall out like James' did. I looked at my baby pictures and I had crazy hair that stuck up just like yours! I will have to scan the picture and post soon.

You are so strong and lift up your head and turn it from side to side

You love being on your tummy

You kick your legs and move ALL the time

You have the sweetest smile and love to talk and smile when on the changing table

You are a great eater and wonderful sleeper. You go to bed at 9:30 p.m. and wake up once around 4:00 a.m. to eat then go right back to sleep until 7:30 a.m. or 8:00 a.m.

On Tuesday Mommy has to go back to work and it is going to be so hard to be away from you. Grandma-ma will be coming over from Fort Worth every day to take care of you for a couple of weeks and I know you will be well taken care of and most likely a little spoiled! You will start Brookhaven in April and go to school with your big brother. All of the teachers can't wait for you to be there. Mommy will be counting down the days until we get to spend summer together!

We love you so much and can't wait to see how you grow and change this next month!

Love,
Mommy

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

A rare picture of the two boys! It is hard to get James to sit still enough to "hold" Michael
Love the socks
My little McCutie!!!
Our little monkey
Weeeeeee! The boys and I slept late and spent a leisurely morning at home. Michael and I took James to school around 11:00 so he could eat lunch, take a nap, then enjoy his St. Patrick's Day class party. Sean picked Michael and I up at 5:00 and we all picked up James then headed to the park. It was a gorgeous day! After the park we walked a block to the tennis courts. James LOVES sports but tennis is his new favorite!
Waiting to hit the ball
Showing Daddy his swing
Playing with the racquet & ball
Yelling ball, I think?

Bath time

Michael loves bath time and I am cherishing the baths in our favorite blue bath tub in the sink. I know he will have to move to the big tub in a few months! He is 7 weeks old and we have his 2 month appointment one week from today. Where does the time go? How is Michael almost two months old already? I will write a post with his official stats after our appointment next Friday. I am guessing 95th percentile in height and 80-90th percentile in weight. He seems to be a little heavier than James and James has always been in the 50-60th percentile weight range. I know I shouldn't constantly compare them but it is hard not to when they are so close in age and look so much alike! We are already telling James that Michael is his best friend and he will have so much fun playing with him when he gets a little older.

Sip & See for Michael

My sweet friends hosted a Sip & See for Michael on Saturday February 12th. I am just now posting pictures because I dropped and broke my camera at the end of the party and it took me a couple of weeks to get a new one and retrieve the pictures from my memory card. I loved having a shower after Michael was born so I could show him off and it was so fun to have all of my different groups of friends together-childhood/college friends, teacher friends from school, and my group of mommy friends that have little ones that are friends with James. Michael and I had such a wonderful time!

*hostess picture coming soon. we took one after I dropped my camera!

James & Michael

These are my favorite pictures I took with my phone in the past couple of days. James loves bath time and I actually have some great pictures of him laughing that I took right after this one but they are blurry. I think the picture of Michael captures one of his many precious expressions. I love my boys!!!

Catching up & Buzz

I am catching up on posts from November & December-James' 18 month appointment, Thanksgiving pictures, Christmas pictures, and a few weekly prego pictures. I don't want the posts to be out of order. I actually started writing all of them back in November & December and have them all saved as drafts so they will be posted in November & December if you want to go back and read them and/or see the pictures. I also have Michael's one month letter to write, which I am planning on doing tomorrow. I don't have a computer at home during the day right now but will have one again starting next week so it has made it a little hard to keep up with the blog and pictures. Sean brings his laptop home at night but lately I have been too tired to do anything!

Sean was out of town on business for four days this past Thursday-Sunday and Sean's mom, Janie, came and stayed with me. I thought I would be able to catch up on my blog and Snapfish pictures but my boys kept us very busy!!!

Sean was in Orlando, Florida for Northwestern Mutual's annual meeting. James loves Mickey Mouse and the movies Cars & Toy Story right now-all Disney! Sean stayed with our friend Bodie who is in law school there and they went to Disney World. Sean came home with a Mickey Mouse t-shirt and a Lightning McQueen car for James, which he LOVES. But, what he loved the most was a picture Sean texted me his first day there of himself with Buzz Lightyear. James asked to see the picture all weekend and would say Daddy! Buzz! Daddy! Buzz!, and I would say yes, Daddy is visiting Buzz. So that's where James thought Sean was ALL weekend...visiting Buzz Lightyear. He got very excited talking about Daddy visiting Buzz, it was too cute. The picture is below.

One month old

Dear Michael,

You are one month old today! We have had a wonderful first month together and you are such a good baby. We came home from the hospital on Friday January 21st when you were 3 days old. The next morning your big brother woke up with the flu so we had to go to Grandma-ma and Papa's house in Fort Worth for four days. They loved having us and thought it was so special to spend time with you. Your big brother wasn't too sure about you when we came home but I can tell he already loves you so much. James asks to see you as soon as he wakes up in the morning and when he comes home from school. If he finds a paci he brings it to me and says Myul. He kisses you on the head good night and pats you on the head or shoulder if you are fussy. I want to enjoy every moment of you being a baby but I can't wait until you and your big brother can play together!

So Michael Scott, what are you up to at one month old?

You are 23 1/2 inches long and weigh a little over 9 lbs

You have SO much hair! That is what everyone comments on and thinks you are very cute

Your eyes were a dark blue grey when you were born but are now turning brown, just like your big brother's!

You wore size NB clothes the first two weeks and are now in size 0-3 months

You have two size NB diapers left and then will be in size 1

You are lifting up your head and turning it from side to side

You love being on your tummy

You like swinging in your swing and love white noise

You love to snuggle, which is Mommy's favorite thing to do with you

You like your paci/binky (Mommy & Daddy call it a binky but James calls it a paci)

You love to have your hands on your face

You do not like to be swaddled with your arms down. You have to have your elbows bent tucked close in to your chest with your little hands touching your chin.

You eat about every three hours except at night-you can now sleep 4-5 hours before you wake up hungry. This makes Mommy very happy because that means Mommy gets to sleep a little longer.

Words cannot express how much we love you and how excited we are that you are finally here! We can't wait to see how you grow and change in month two.

Love,
Mommy

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day! James made me a heart with his hand prints at school today and how cute are all of his Valentine's from his friends at his first Valentine's party at school? The pictures were taken with my iPhone since I now need a new camera or need to get mine repaired.

Saturday my sweet friends hosted a Sip & See for Michael. Unfortunately I dropped my camera with the lens open so it is now broken. I am hoping I bought the warranty at Best Buy but haven't had time to go there to find out! The good news is I dropped the camera at the end of the party so I do have some great pictures but I am not able to access them yet.

Sean and I were able to sneak away from the house for about an hour for dinner tonight! Mildred came over to watch James and we were going to take Michael with us but he was fast asleep so Millie convinced me to leave Michael & James both with her and enjoy a quick dinner out with my hubby for Valentine's Day. How could I say no when Michael looked so comfortable?

Millie is like family to us now and loves our boys! We are so blessed to have her in our lives!
