4 months old!

So James Peyton, what are you up to at 4 months old???

You are 27 inches long and weigh 16 pounds

You wear a size 2-3 diaper (I had no idea there was an in between size but yes it is size 2-3)

You are still in 3-6 month clothing but a few 6-9 month fit because you are so long

You rolled over for the first time last week and haven't stopped, especially when you are on a blanket on the floor. You rolled over for the first time in your crib, from back to tummy, during your nap yesterday

You are reaching for everything, and love pulling my hair

You love sitting up and playing with your feet but I have to hold you so you don't fall over

You love your baths and it is one of my favorite times of the day because it is our family bonding time

You go to bed at 9:30 p.m. and occassionally wake up at 4:00 a.m. but most of the time sleep until 7:00 a.m., eat, then go back to sleep until 9:00 a.m.

You still love Mr. Elephant but you also love your bunny stuffed animal

Anything you can get your little hands on goes into your mouth

You love swinging in your swing

You have found your voice and love to squeal

Your 4 month appointment is on September 8th and we will find out officially how much you have grown!

It has been amazing to see you grow these past 4 months. We love you so much!

Love,
Mommy

One year ago today

One year ago today we found out we were expecting our baby boy! Obviously we didn't know it was a boy yet, I was only 4 weeks along. It was the first day of school and I found out when I got home but wanted to tell Sean in person so I waited two whole hours and didn't tell anyone! I told him as soon as he walked in the door and had a card, flowers, a onesie that said "I love Daddy", and non-alcholic champagne to celebrate!

17 weeks already?!?

Below is what babycenter.com says about how James is growing this week:

When placed on his stomach, your baby will probably lift his head and shoulders high, using his arms for support. This mini push-up helps strengthen her muscles and gives him a better view of what's going on. He may even amaze you (and himself!) by rolling from his back to his front, or vice versa.

You can encourage this rolling skill through play: Wiggle a toy next to the side he customarily rolls to in case he's interested enough to try again. Applaud his efforts and smile. He may need your reassurance, as this new skill can be a little frightening.

Again, babycenter.com is right on target as to what James is doing this week! He rolls over all the time and seems to like playing on the floor more now that he can change positions. I will post again later this week, James will be 4 months old on Friday!

James Rolling Over!

James rolled over for the first time two days ago on August 19th. He rolled over four times this morning so I thought I would capture it on camera. And yes, I know I sound silly talking to him and cheering him on! Click on the play button to see the video.

Blanket pictures

I finally took the 3 month blanket picture and I love seeing how much James has grown! I have a few pictures on the blanket but chose this one because he loves putting his hands in his mouth right now and is always kicking and moving his legs. His latest "trick" is to reach out and grab his sock by the toe while it is still on his foot and try to put it in his mouth.

Red River

We went to Red River last week with the whole family! Myla and Adyn, my niece and nephew, had so much fun meeting their cousin for the first time. I only wish they all lived closer. Laura and Chris Denniston joined us too, who are pretty much part of our family. Laura and I have been friends since 7th grade and she was my friend that I took with us to Red River skiing and in the summer every year when we were growing up. She loved it so much that she and her husband Chris have gone with us every year for the past 7 years. Usually we share a cabin but they had their own cabin this year and Sean, James, and I stayed in Mom and Papa's townhouse. I have a lot of pictures and will send those out soon but below are some of my favorites in a slideshow!

First Fever

James resting on the couch on his Boppy
Our baby boy is sick and it's my fault. I felt hot and had chills that started around noon on Wednesday. I was at the doctor by 3:00 p.m. and by 6:00 p.m. was home on Tylenol and antibiotics. I had over 101 fever and my whole body ached. I tested negative for strep and the flu but my doctor gave me antibiotics in case it was a bacterial infection but most likely it was just a virus. The doctor said James would probably get sick since I held him and took care of him all morning before I had any symptoms. Thursday afternoon James had 101.3 fever and by Friday morning it was up to 102.7. We went to the doctor and the nurses took blood and a urine sample (Don't ask how, Daddy couldn't watch but Mommy held James' hand). Dr. Smith, our pediatrician, said make sure James continued eating so he would get plenty of fluids and give him Children's Infant Tylenol every 4 hours. She also said that since he is so young if his fever gets higher than 103 to take him to the Emergency Room. This morning it was still almost 103 and he ached so much that he cried when I picked him up or moved him. Dr. Smith wanted to rule out Meningitis so we brought him back to her office today. We got the initial test results back and the doctor on duty did rule out Meningitis and a Urinary Tract Infection but we won't have the official blood results back until later in the week. James' fever did break late this afternoon and he has been sleeping most of the day...
I started this post last Saturday when James was sick but he is all well now! It was a terrible feeling, seeing our sweet baby so sick and there wasn't anything I could do to make him well. I think I held him and rocked him for two days straight and prayed for him to get well. We did get his official test results back and he did not have a bacterial infection and only a virus. His fever was gone by late Saturday night and he was much better by Sunday morning. We left for Red River Sunday night! We had a great time, are back now, and I have pictures from our trip that I will post soon.

Cedar Creek Lake

James, Ellie, and I went to spend the night with Blaire and Harper at the LaVoy lakehouse on Cedar Creek Lake. We had so much fun and it was great to get away, even if it was only for 24 hours! I love both of the pictures above. The first one is of Harper checking out James. She is such a cutie, and has the most gorgeous blue eyes just like her mama! Don't worry, James is not "laying out" in the sun. It was later in the evening and we were only outside for a little while in the shade. The second picture is of Ellie doing a cannon ball off the dock. Ellie has snorkeled in the ocean but had never swam in a lake. Since she couldn't see below her she was a little scared to go in the water but after a little while she had no fear and loved jumping off the dock. Thank you Blaire and Harper for having us out to the lake, we had so much fun!
