Teething is not fun

We have had a couple of rough nights of teething. I took my camera in to take a picture of James yesterday morning on his 6 month birthday and he was not feeling good, poor baby. Teething is not fun!

6 months old

So James Peyton, what are you up to at 6 months old???

You are 28 inches long and weigh 18.5 pounds

You wear size 6-9 month clothing

You wear a size 2-3 diaper

You love to be on the floor, scooting on your tummy and rolling sometimes across the room

You are sitting up by yourself but still fall over sometimes

You started eating rice cereal three days ago!

You are so interested in the spoon and bowl and get excited that it is time to eat but then when you realize it is only rice cereal you look at us like "That's all I get?"

Your hair is getting so long it now is a little wavy

You are teething and have two teeth on the bottom under the gums that we can see and feel

You love playing with mommy's hair and pulling it

You discovered that shiny earrings and necklaces are fun to pull too!

You are take two naps during the day, usually from 11-12 and 3-5

You love playing in your exersaucer

You reach for us to pick you up when you want to be held

You still love to ride in the car and tend to fall asleep

You are almost too long for your infant car seat and we will be buying a convertible car seat very soon!

These last 6 months have been the most special time in my life. I can't believe what a big boy you are now. We love you so much and can't wait to see what you do next month!

Love,
Mommy

Playdate

Moms & Babies
James was fascinated with Isaiah's hair!

Everett & James I have met a wonderful group of girls through our baby yoga classes and we get together weekly on Thursday afternoons for lunch and playdate. All of the babies are within two months in age of each other, some only days apart from James. We rotate houses and this week it was our turn to host. We had 13 moms, one nanny, one grandmom visiting and 14 babies over today so it was a big turnout! It was so much fun but I was exhausted by the time everyone left. I re-arranged our den furniture and made a big space for the babies to roll around on their blankets and play. I served a penne pasta dish and then others brought salad, bread, and we had three different desserts. Yum!

On the move

James is on the move! In the last few days he has been turning on his tummy and scooting and pulling himself across the floor using his forearms. Every morning I leave him in the den on his blanket or activity mat with toys while I make breakfast. I went to the kitchen, heard a noise, and he was across the room! He had pulled over one of our topiary trees and was playing with the leaves. It was so funny, you could tell by the look on his face he was proud of himself!

Mommy & me

Life is precious

There are a few blogs I regularly follow. One is written by a stay at home mom in Arkansas who has a huge blog following. Her blog address is http://www.kellyskornerblog.com/ She is a true Southern girl and is very entertaining! Kelly has prayer requests for different families and it was here I read about The Sullivans.

At 28 years old Sara Sullivan was diagnosed with breast cancer and found out she was pregnant around the same time, less than a year ago. She went through treatment, fought the disease, and was in remission when she had her baby girl Chloe three weeks pre-mature. Two days after they came home from the hospital Sara had a seizure, went into a coma, and passed away. If Chloe was not born pre-mature she would not be here. Sara's husband is now raising Chloe alone. He has amazing faith, a strong support system, and a love for his wife he will share with his daughter as she grows up. I have now read his entire blog (and cried many times through it), which began with Sara's diagnosis. It reminded me how precious life is and how blessed I am to be a mother and have such wonderful family and friends. If you have time please take a moment to read any entry from Brad's blog and say a prayer for this family. http://www.bandssullivan.blogspot.com/

5 1/2 months old

I think I am a big boy when I can sit up by myself!
Future QB

I love my football
This week James has been very active, so much in fact he nearly flipped off the changing table when I was changing his diaper! That is his new favorite thing to do, flip over to his tummy while I am changing him. He smiles when he does it so he must think it is fun. We are still working on sitting up by himself. He can sit with his boppy or by himself for a short period of time but always falls over. He has a new exersaucer which he loves playing in but can only stay in it for about 10 minutes before he gets tired. I will try to video him playing in it soon because it is so cute to see his little mind at work as he plays with the differen toys. Below is what babycenter.com says about how he is developing this week:

Your baby's getting better at spotting very small objects and tracking things that are moving. At this point, he may be able to recognize an object after seeing only part of it — like his favorite toy peeking out from under a blanket. This will be the basis of little hide-and-seek games you'll be playing in the coming months. He can also follow an object out of his view. You may also notice that he'll reach for a block (or another object) on a table if you hold him close to it, and once he's got one, he may just go after a second.

In our baby yoga class one of the things we do is hold a small object above our baby's eyes and move it slowly from one side to the other so he can practice tracking. James is very good at it and has been for a while!

Growing boy!

I love seeing how much James has grown. The first picture is a side by side comparison of James' blanket picture at 1 month old and 5 months old. It is amazing how much he has grown in such a short time! After James' nap today Sean picked him up and walked into the den holding him. I sat on the couch and stared at James thinking how much he looks like a little boy and not a baby. I think the second picture is just cute and the third one is James watching Chloe. He loves watching the dogs. The other day he was on the floor and Chloe was laying down near him. James grabbed her tail and tried to put it in his mouth!

This past week James has been turning on his tummy whenever he is on the blanket on the floor. He seems to be constantly kicking his legs or moving on the floor. I think we will be chasing him all over the house once he starts crawling! We have a busy week; baby yoga on Wednesday, our weekly playdate with the yoga girls on Thursday, dinner at The Morgans' house Saturday night to celebrate Julia's 3rd birthday then Mildred will babysit on Sunday when Sean and I go to Ting and John's baby shower. Ting is an old friend from Country Day and is due with a baby boy on December 16th!
